"Jewish Image Nod to Fisher"

The fifth annual Jewish Image Awards, presented by the Los Angeles Foundation for Jewish Culture, said Thursday that it will honor producer Lucy Fisher, whose upcoming films include "Jarhead" and "Memoirs of a Geisha," with its 2005 Industry Leadership Award and writer-producer Hank Steinberg with its Creative Spirit Award.

The honors will be presented Oct. 10 at the Beverly Hills Hotel that will be hosted by Jeffrey Tambor ("Arrested Development").

The MorningStar Commission, founded by Hadassah, will recognize Fran Drescher with the Marlene Marks MorningStar Woman of Inspiration Award.

The awards, created to celebrate creative work that transcends stereotypes and cliches to portray Jewish values, history and traditions in film and TV, also include awards for Couple in Film, Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand, "Meet the Fockers"; Female Character in Film, Marla Sokoloff, "The Tollbooth"; Male Character in Film, Martin Landau, "The Aryan Couple"; Television Series, "The West Wing"; Television Special, "I'm Still Here: Real Diaries of Young People Who Lived During the Holocaust"; Male Character in TV, Peter Gallagher, "The O.C."; Documentary, "Sister Rose's Passion"; and Cross Cultural Production, "Everyday People."

The Jewish Image Awards will be produced by Scott Mauro Entertainment, in association with the National Foundation for Jewish Culture's LA Entertainment Industry Council.
