I wrote a small Java (1.7+) program to dump (and write to) MiFare Classic 1K tags using an ACS ACR122U. It is available on GitHub . Under the hood it uses a plain old J2SE library called NFCTools .

I would like to ask whether anyone know any existing API or libraries or even any other easier way that I can make use of to apply the NFC technology in my project. I might be using NFC tag to store ID and get the ID from the tag as input. I will appreciate you if give me a star on the top right of page. If i were to use the phone's built in NFC coil it would cause problems due to the tablet holder. So far i've found USB NFC readers, however i am not sure they are supported by Android. Has anyone used one like that before? Do they work as the regular built in NFC?
Yes, the ACR 122 U can be connected via an USB OTG Cable. ACR has an Android test app on their driver page . You will in addition need something like NFC Tools for Java to interact with the reader (sending commands etc).
